Following World War II, Mr Ryan's son, father of the current Chairman of the Board J.T.Ryan III, continued the development of international markets, and in 1947, MSA (Britain) Ltd was founded in Glasgow, Scotland. In the late 1950s, MSA established a new subsidiary in Italy. Then in 1958, MSA acquired Auergesellschaft GmbH (today MSA AUER GmbH), one of Europe's leading safety equipment manufacturers and a company founded in 1892. In the following decade, new European operations were opened in France, Spain, and the Netherlands. In the 70's and 80's our growth extended to Sweden and Switzerland. The 90's have seen the MSA family extended to Belgium, Austria and Eastern countries, like Poland, Hungary and Russia.

Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, MSA AUER is a cornerstone of MSA's global operations. Most of our European products are manufactured in Berlin, like breathing apparatus, masks, respirators and filters, chemical-protective suits, and continuous instruments for monitoring toxic and combustible gases.
MSA AUER works on joint efforts with MSA Pittsburgh research and engineering groups, with results that benefit both continents and other MSA subsidiaries.

MSA International has 40 wholly-owned multinational affiliates, serving industrial and mining markets on five continents. Each year, MSA products are shipped to more than 140 countries. There is a regular exchange of information on research and manufacturing activities between the parent company and its subsidiaries, materially strengthening both. Also, a dedication to global product development allows MSA to better serve customer needs the same way all around the world.
The worldwide growth program renews the commitment made by two young mining engineers long ago. Almost one century later, MSA is still working for the safety of people everywhere.
